Course description
This course complements the Quantum Field Theory lectures and the Theoretical Exercises by providing the foundations necessary for understanding the Standard Model of particle physics and for preparing a Master’s thesis across a broad range of possibilities, ranging from statistical and condensed matter physics all the way to particle and mathematical physics. The main topics covered include:
- Path integral (in quantum mechanics, statistical physics, and field theory)
- Symmetries and group theory (discrete and Lie groups, representations)
- Solitons and instantons in gauge theory
